Epiphany on the Adriatic

"Be content with what you have, rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you." - Lao Tzu

This is my favorite passage from the Tao Te Ching. My husband introduced me to this book while I was going through Yoga Teacher Training back in the fall of 2010. I had just left a comfortable career in the non-profit sector to pursue yoga full-time. While, intuitively, I knew that this was the path I was meant to be on, there was a consistent nagging feeling of uncertainty and un-settledness. Even as I sit here and type this, 3 years later, that same feeling bubbles to the surface from time to time. Did I make the right choice? Is this wacky freelancing lifestyle really for me? Should I just go back to a boring office job?

And then I think of this moment, right here. That's me. Teaching yoga on the ocean in Dubrovnik, Croatia.....

As the sun set over the Adriatic that beautiful July day, I reached my arms overhead, took a big stretch and offered my heart up to the sky as a way of simply saying Thank You. Thank you to all the universal elements that had to come together as one to create this moment right here. I'm 99% sure this moment would not have been possible if I stayed working in a cubicle.

And so, for now, my heart is relaxed, my anxiety softened. I'm not sure what is to come, but magical moments like this are gentle reminders that there is absolutely nothing lacking. And for this, I am grateful.
