dear friends ~ My birthday is this Friday, May 23 and I'll be celebrating 28 years on this beautiful Earth! Looking around my life, I've got more material possessions than I need, so this year, I wanted to try something different and donate my birthday to the orphaned and abandoned children of Baja California, Mexico ~ a place I visit often and love with all my heart.
My first trip to the orphanages of Baja with Corazon de Vida was back in 2007 when I was a student at San Diego State University studying cross-border relations and interested in supporting the socioeconomic development of the US/Mexico border region. After many years of traveling through Mexico for fun and falling in love with its kind-hearted people, surf/yoga lifestyle and delicious food, I rediscovered Corazon de Vida in 2014 when my friend Amar started the San Diego Chapter.
I am now actively involved with the organization and believe it is part of my life's work to bring people to Mexico to give back and remember all there is to be grateful for. I would love nothing more than to dedicate my birthday to Corazon de Vida and raise lots of money for this great cause!
Founded in 1994, Corazón de Vida is a US-based nonprofit organization supporting 14 Baja orphanages. It provides children in dire need the necessities of shelter, food, clothing, education, and healthcare – as well as hope, compassion and love. To date, they have 35 kids enrolled in Baja universities, effectively ending their cycle of poverty and homelessness.
Anything helps! Please consider donating to my birthday fundraiser for Corazon de Vida! Gracias :)
ps: every month, Corazon de Vida leads trips from San Diego and Orange County, California down to the orphanages in Baja. We leave early in the morning and return in the evening after a day full of hugs, dancing, painting, eating, playing and just having fun with the kids. One of the most rewarding things I've ever been a part of. I highly encourage you sign up for a trip!
